Jim Treacher

Jim Treacher is the nom de plume of American political pundit Sean Medlock. He is the in-house blogger for Tucker Carlson's news website, The Daily Caller. Treacher's weblog hosted by the Caller is entitled The DC Trawler (a pun on "D.C.," and on the multiple meanings of "Trawler"). Medlock's page went live on January 11, 2010, along with the rest of Tucker Carlson's site.

Treacher has been a presence in the blogosphere for some years, and ran a blog that was entitled, at various times, Mother, May I Sleep with Treacher? and Jim Treacher's Blog That Is on the Internet.

Formerly a book editor in Indianapolis, Indiana, Treacher/Medlock was recruited directly by Carlson approximately three weeks before the Caller went live: Carlson, having convinced Treacher that he was, indeed, truly Tucker Carlson, set out to Indianapolis the morning after they first made contact. The two men met at that airport's Starbucks. Carlson then invited Treacher to jump on a plane that same morning, and they flew to Washington D.C. to meet with other staffers at the startup. The offer was made that day, and Treacher/Medlock moved to the capital immediately.

Medlock appears to be "stuck" with the "Jim Treacher" name. He remarked at his pre-Daily Caller blog that "I'm finding out all sorts of people who've been reading me for years. Now I'm learning to hear the name 'Jim Treacher' out loud without flinching. (Next time I come up with a web pseudonym that I use for the better part of a decade, I'll give it a little more thought.)"

Treacher has been involved in other comedy projects within the humorous neighborhoods of the blogosphere, including joint endeavors with Dave Burge of Iowahawk, a short film project, and some work for Greg Gutfeld's Daily Gut. He's also had his material read out loud on Dennis Miller's radio show. The Daily Caller blogging slot appears to be his first full-time paid online endeavor; he has referred to his experience as a new resident in the U.S. capital in a self-deprecating manner, dubbing himself "Farmy McRube."
